Barbara Boroson has been mingling the worlds of writing and special needs for more than fifteen years. After getting her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in creative writing, she worked in children's book editing and copy writing at Penguin USA. Barbara went on to earn her master’s degree in social work from Columbia University.

As a social worker, she began her clinical career in community settings. She then moved to the Hallen School in New York, a non-public school for special education. There, Barbara worked closely with children who have significant special needs, first in a clinical capacity as a therapist, and later as the Dean of Admissions.

Currently, in addition to freelance writing, Barbara serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the Pelham Children's Center, a preschool and after-school program in New York. Barbara is also the mother of two literally inspirational children, one of whom is on the autism spectrum.
